Using SleepWalk with the lid closed
SleepWalk needs background access from macOS to keep a session running after you close the lid. Setup is one-time, and the menu shows what remains.
SleepWalk uses this access only during a session you start, then restores your previous sleep settings. It does not read your prompts, code, files, windows, logs, or network traffic. Notifications are optional and report session starts, stops, and available app updates.
- Move SleepWalk to Applications and open it from there.
- Choose Set up SleepWalk.
- If macOS shows an Allow Background Activity confirmation, choose Allow. If SleepWalk shows Open Login Items, choose it and turn on SleepWalk in System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions. Start at Login is separate and optional.
After macOS approves it, SleepWalk continues automatically. After a restart, it may briefly show Finishing Setup while its background component starts. No action is required. Start Session becomes available when the normal menu returns. On a Mac without a lid, SleepWalk confirms setup but cannot test or run closed-lid sessions.
When something needs attention
- Follow the button SleepWalk shows. If macOS asks you to allow SleepWalk, do that and SleepWalk will continue automatically. If the same step fails again, email support.
License and trial
To activate SleepWalk, open Settings, enter the license key from Polar, and choose Activate. After updating from a version before 0.1.26, enter the key once to create the current secure record. The seven-day trial never starts a subscription or automatic charge. SleepWalk validates access before each new session, but never interrupts a bounded session that is already running.
See the purchase terms for the refund and cancellation policy.
Removing SleepWalk
Before deleting the app, open Settings and choose Remove beside Closed-lid access. If SleepWalk is already gone, email support.
